Type tool disappeared !

When I have Illustrator 10 opened and click on WINDOWS, the Type Tool is checked (meaning that it should be showing up)...however, it does not show up on the screen. Where did it go?

All of the other tools when checked, show up fine on the screen, but for some reason, the Type Tool is lost...

Please help me out, since type is such a major part of the program for me!

When pallets disappear and refuse to come back, a typical solution is to delete the hidden file "aiprefs"

Hi Mattias,

There is no type tool to checkmark in the Windows menu. There ARE several submenus under Type that you can put checkmarks next to to display the character palette, the paragraph palette, etc. So what's actually checked, and what's not showing up on screen? The character palette? The Paragraph palette? Or are you saying that the type tools in the toolbox are missing?

Philip's suggestion to delete the aiprefs file is a good one. What operating system are you using?

Thanks guys....i actually deleted the aiprefs and it worked fine!

fyi:
1. i'm using Windows XP...
2. the Type Tools wasn't checked, but the submenus (character and paragraph) were checked. those were the two that didn't show up.

however, now they are back and i can continue on.

Can anyone tell me how to delete the AIPrefs file using Illustrator CS and Windows 7? I need to know how to get there. Does this delete all preferences? Thank you.
