Type with logo as two objects. On printingthe area around the logo blocks out part of type. - Adobe Illustrator Windows

Illustrator CS2 trial version. I am trying to send a file to a T-shirt printer who uses plot printing. Thus, I must send vector files. I set the type and coverted to outline. For the T-shirt printers system, I had to save in Illustrator 10 in an .ai file. I uploaded the vector file to the T-shirt place. However, there the area of the logo file that overlapped the type now blocks out the type. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

    Charles,

I imported a simple pixel logo and converted to outline ...

.... which does not convert it to vector. So now you do not have a vector file. To get from raster to vector you have to trace the raster image(s); some say that in some cases Live Trace may do it; otherwise the Pen Tool is your friend (or enimy).
