Typing in Arabic using an Adobe product???
I'm working on a bi-lingual project for a client and I need to have Arabic on part of my illustrator file. I've figured out how to type in Arabic using text edit... how can I import that into illustrator? Will photoshop, Indesign, or Illustrator support the Arabic language? Any ideas on how to work this; any ideas or best guesses are appreciated.
TIA!

Re: Typing in Arabic using an Adobe product???
The only way we have figured out how to get Arabic text from Text Edit into Illustrator is to make a pdf of it with all of your Characteristics set (point size, leading, etc). Then open that pdf in Illustrator CS. It will then outline all of the Arabic characters. We keep a copy of the Text Edit file for editing.
It's not really the best way to do it, but it works for us!
Good Luck!

Re: Typing in Arabic using an Adobe product???
Adobe-ME (Middle Eastern) editions are available with full Arabic support. The products include InDesign-ME, Acrobat Pro-ME, PhotoShop-ME. Soon a new Middle Eastern Adobe Illustrator-ME will be available.
Using InDesign-ME for example, you can typeset Arabic, outline text, and save as EPS or PDF for use within English programs such as English Illustrator. InDesign-ME includes a free bundle of Arabic fonts.
With InDesign-ME, you can import Arabic and other language text files (usually prepared in Word/XP) for layout in InDesign-ME. You can slo create Arabic text-effects, and other creative tools such as 'Type Arabic on a Path'. see: <http://www.arabicdtp.com> for Adobe-ME info.
