[Squibbly]

i got an image file from a magazine's disc and yet i am having trouble
turning this into a bootable disc. the start up screen come up alright but
when it gets to a certain point it just hangs, i want to install this as a
dual boot with windows xp

Did you burn this to a CD using an app that will burn iso files? The
native XP CD burning function will NOT do this, you need a third-party app.

And did you burn it using Nero's iso to CD function, or just a straight
copy?

(And a tip - in Linux and technical newsgroups it tends to be common
practice to bottom post. As you are using OE you would be well advised
to get OEQuotefix - it cures OE of a lot of omissions!)

right click and open with function

then it goes straight to image file dvd

He would never have seen anything had he done the latter. Looks like a
bad iso. Id suggest checking the md5 of the iso.
