I too am getting a complaint from IE about ultrashim.cab when attempting to
install Flash 9 player. More specifically, I am being told that the ActiveX
control is not digitally signed (my IE settings forbid downloading of unsigned
ActiveX controls and I wouldn't want to change that).

I am downloading (without Google Toolbar) using the Install Now button on page
http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/index.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash
. I am using Internet Explorer V7.0.5730.11 with Flash6.ocx already installed.

We had this problem and discovered it was only for a group of computers going
through a proxy which seemed to be blocking ActiveX installs required by flash.
Disabled the proxy and back to direct connection and the install went through
on the first try.

There's another angle to this.. if you're on Win98 you're not supposed to get
the ultrashim.cab (which is part of the Google toolbar offer...)

So the web team discovered earlier this week that their detection was allowing
a few Win98 machines through to the google toolbar offer. But if you get that
offer on Win98 you'll get this error. They're improving the detection, but
Win98 users should decline google toolbar (and remove it for some reason you
already have it...)

Earlier in the day I downloaded the latest Flash player. I am running Vista.

I noticed that task manager was showing about 50 % constant CPU utilization. I
traced it to:

C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Download\Download.exe .

It has been running for hours. Should I just stop the process or is it doing
something?
