Unable to edit files in C3, but can in C2

Hi :)

I've just bought C3 and am having trouble with one of my sites. In C2,
everything works perffectly, I can edit every page and get no errors. In C3,
when I click edit, it goes through a huge rigmarole of downloading the template
and all the includes, and finally says:

"Operation failed. The resource is not a file, or there might be a permission
problem."

On this website, I've set up custom 404 messages, and I have it send me an
email with the address that gave the 404. When I open C3, I get two mesages
saying that [myURL]/Templates/ gave a 404, and when I click edit, I get another
one.

Firstly, the Template folder is in the right place, the template is there and
I can edit the site fine in DW MX 2004 and C2.

Secondly, I thought that perhaps the problem was that the template for this
site was called default.dwt. So I made a copy of a page, and a copy of the
template, renamed the template and made the copy of the page point to the new
template. Unfortunately, this didn't fix the problem, and I'm still getting a
404 on the Templates folder and the wonderful "can't edit" message when I try
to edit this new file.

Considering this is our intranet, I'm leaving in three weeks and I really have
to have rolled out C3 to a number of contributors before I leave, time is of
the essence :-)

What extension are you using for your includes? I don't know anything
about C2 but in C3, I believe that if the includes have the .inc or
..txt extension that prevents them from being edited.

I have includes with a .html extension. Try a test page with that (if
they aren't already) and see if that helps.
