    Default Unable to edit text

After I click on Edit (Contribute 3.1) on one page in my web site, I get the
circle with the "no entry" slash across it. I cannot edit anything on the page.
No one has the page checked out. Going in through Dreamweaver I can edit the
page. I followed the Help instructions for deleting a locked page but it didn't
help. The page doesn't seem to be locked nor checked out.

Any suggestions as to what might be going on?

    thanks,

    Ted

The circle with a slash - that sounds like the entire page is in a non-editable region. Have you been playing with templates on that page and maybe set the entire page up in a non-editable region?

Default Re: Unable to edit text

My problem in 3.1 has stumped the tech wizards so far. I can edit all but one
page on the site where the Edit button does not respond with anything more than
a blink. I tried creating a copy of the page and publishing that, then copying
the copy and reverting to the old filename and tried to publish that but the
error was that "someone has removed the lock from the server".
I tried creating a new user account and when I use Contribute in that account
the problem page is fine! It might be worth trying that move for your problem.
Anybody got a solution for mine? I don't want to work in the new account where
none of my stuff is saved. It would be painful to migrate it all to the new
    account.
BTW there is no problem with the page from my laptop, only from the desktop in
    the primary account.

Can you post a link or the code for the page?

This seems to be an ongoing issue. I have had users experience it and now am
experiencing it myself. I saw a posting in the forum with 8 posts from mid
year. There was no resolution and no suggestons from the mm tech staff.

The only "solution" I've found is to publish the page, shut down contribute entirely, then re-open the page. It will then generally (sometimes) work properly.
