Default unable to open mac eps file contains illegal operand in windows

I'm trying to open an eps file generated on a mc and get this illustration contains an illegal operator ... offending operator "<"

    I'm running AI 10 Windows.

Here is the header from the eps file:
    %!PS-Adobe-3.1 EPSF-3.0
    %%Title: 1511720-4 Fm.OS-3Die.eps
    %%Creator: Adobe Illustrator(R) X
    %%AI8_CreatorVersion: 10.0
    %AI9_PrintingDataBegin
    %%For: Prepress
    %%CreationDate: 7/2/04
    %%BoundingBox: 0 0 2919 2160
    %%HiResBoundingBox: 0 0 2918.8799 2159.8799
    %%CropBox: 0 0 2918.8799 2159.8799
    %%LanguageLevel: 2
    %%DocumentData: Clean7Bit
    %ADOBeginClientInjection: DocumentHeader "AI10"
    %ADOEndClientInjection: DocumentHeader "AI10"
    %%Pages: 1

We actually need this file in dwg format for loading into autocad 14. Can anyone tell me how I can A. ask the client to re-export the file in a format I can read on windows or B. convert this file to a format that is loadable in Windows AI 10 or HiJaak?

Thanks for any suggestions with this.

Illustrator files are cross-platform compatible, so there is no need to export to a special format for Windows or convert files in any way. As long as you are using the same or newer IL version, you should be able to open native .ai or .eps files from a Mac without any difficulty. I do this almost every day.

You didn't say how the file was transferred, but if e-mail was involved, there is the possibility of file corruption. If so, have your client place the file(s) in a compressed archive, such as StuffIt or Zip, before e-mailing.

If you don't have one already, free StuffIt and Zip expanders are available for both platforms.

Make sure both you and your client have updated to 10.0.3.
