    Default Unable to print

    Hi

I have Windows 2000 and FreehandMX. When I try to print to color printer or
make an *.EPS or *.PDF file by using export I get the following "Could not
complete your request because read or write access has been denied". I log in
to computer as administrator and I have full rights to the document I am
handling. Although printing to none color printer goes fine.

This problem appeared just recently and occures only with FreehandMX. Do you
    have any solutions

check this out... not sure if it'll help, but there's a solution here:

i'm about to try it out myself... hopefully it works for all who have this

it the event that the page changes, here's what it says:

Read or write access denied when printing in Windows NT

    Issue
Attempts to print a document from FreeHand are unsuccessful. The following
    message may appear:

Could not complete the command because read or write access has been denied.

    Solution
There are two possible solutions to resolve this problem. The first solution
involves verifying that a UserPrep file has been defined in the Print dialog
box. This solution is applicable only if the user attempts to print to a
PostScript printer using a PostScript printer driver.

The second possible solution involves deleting the FreeHand preference file.
If you are using a either a non-PostScript printer or a PCL printer driver
on a PostScript printer, follow the steps outlined in Solution 2.

Solution 1: defining a UserPrep file for PostScript printers 1 Choose File
    > Print (or press Ctrl-p) to open the Print dialog box.
2 Select a PostScript printer (using a PostScript printer driver).
Once the printer has been selected, the text box in the lower right-hand
corner of the Print dialog box will indicate whether or not a PostScript
printer with a PostScript printer driver has been selected.

If a PostScript printer driver is selected, a Setup button will
    appear.
If a non-PostScript printer driver is selected, a Preview button
    will appear.

    3 Click the Setup button.

4 Click inside the UserPrep File pop-up list to choose a UserPrep
file. For information on the available UserPrep files and how they are used,
consult the UserPrep ReadMe.doc file located in the root level of the
    FreeHand folder .

Note: If a UserPrep file already appears in the UserPrep File text box,
    try Solution 2.

Solution 2: deleting the FreeHand preference file for non-PostScript
printers 1 If FreeHand is running, exit the application.
2 Navigate to the FreeHand folder on your hard drive. The path to the
FreeHand folder may look something like this on your hard drive: C:\Program
    Files\Macromedia\FreeHand 9.
    3 Open the FreeHand folder.

4 Open the English folder inside of the FreeHand folder.
5 Locate the fhprefs.txt file inside the English folder.
6 Delete the fhprefs.txt file by selecting it and then choosing File >
Delete or by dragging it to the Recycle Bin.
7 Launch FreeHand. The application will automatically create another
    fhprefs.txt file.

    Default Unable to print

After creating an image in AI 9 using windows 2000, it quite randomly seems to grey out and disable the print function for no obvious reason at all.

All the printer settings are normal and nothing is any different to any other files.

If I copy and paste the image into a new document and resave, it then prints fine.

Has anyone else had this problem?

    Dan,

How is your freespace on your working hard drive and has it regularly been defraged? What perhaps might you be running that might be taking up resources? It's possible that the resources needed for the new document is less than the original.
