Default Unable to print any documents

I am trying to print documents from Acrobat 6 to a Canon i9950 printer, under OS X 10.4.8.

When I try to print, I immediately get a message staying "The document could not be printed"

When I check the print monitor, the error message says the process "pstopdffilter" stopped unexpectedly

This only happens with PDF documents. The same documents can be printed with Quark.

I have trashed Acrobat preferences, without success.

I too am having difficulty printing, but this is from Acrobat Pro 7.0.8 to a Xerox Phaser 7750GX in OS X 10.4.8. I get a different error message stating "process pstoxeroxps stopped unexpectedly with status 2". I tried the above fix deleting the PDF printer and repairing in Acrobat with no joy. The latest Xerox printer drivers are installed.

I can print to other printers, just not the Xerox.

    Any suggestions?

    LeRoy,

Is it all pdf files you are having trouble with or one file? What
happens if you try to print the same file(s) from Preview?

Turned out to be a general printing problem. Could not print to that printer from any application. After some serious head-banging, and a helpful service tech, discovered the "pstoxeroxps" (who comes up with these names?) file was missing from the /usr/libexec/cups/filter folder. Replaced said file and problem solved. Who wuddathunk? It may have been the result of a system reinstall I performed a week or so ago.
