Default Uninstalling Extension that won't go away

I have Dreamweaver 8 and installed Indigo Help Publisher for Dreamweaver to try
it out. After evaluating it, I uninstalled it, but it didn't completely
uninstall. I've reinstalled and uninstalled it several times to no avail.

When I start DW, I get the following error message:

At line 7 of file "C:\Program Files\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration\Startup\jwhpStartup.htm";
Help Publisher for Dreamweaver installation is corrupt
Either perform full reinstall of Help Publisher or remove using Extenstion
Manager

The file "jwhpStartup.htm" does not exist in the Startup folder
The plugin doesn't show up in the Extension Manager so it can't be removed,
but it does show up in my menu bar. Full reinstall removes the error, but I
can't uninstall HP without the error coming up again.

If I open the Extension Manager and try to add the extension, I get the error
message that DW is using jwhpdwjs.dll, please close DW and try again. Even
after uninstalling HP, I get the same error message.

I'm at my wits end on how to get rid of this extension and Indigoware has not
responded to my request for support. Anyone know how to manually get rid of it?

Have you done a search on your system for jwhpdwjs.dll?

so the file is gone, but the program is looking for it? Close the program.
Go to C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Extension Manager\Configuration\Extensions
and see if the extension exists. Trash it if it does. Restart DW and see
if your problem is gone.

Unfortunately the fact that a search doesn't reveal a file on windows doesn't mean that the file is not present.

By default the user configuration folder for Dreamweaver is within a hidden folder. To see hidden folders on Windows (at least on XP) open Windows Explorer go to: Tools -> Folder Options, View, Show hidden files and folders.

For Windows 2000 and Windows XP platforms the user config should be found found here:
<drive>:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8\Configuration
For Mac OS X platforms:
<drive>:Users:<username>:Library:Application Support:Macromedia:Dreamweaver 8:Configuration

Note Dreamweaver CS uses different folders:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/ExtensionManager/1.8/help.html?content=WS196E35A1-96D0-4801-B9C5-7490BA2AC4CB.html
and Windows Vista has it's own peculiarities using I believe within the Roaming folder, but not certain.

If you are ok with losing all of your installed extensions, then with Dreamweaver closed, you can delete the *user* configuration folder, then restart Dreamweaver. Theoretically you should be able to re-enable your extensions from within Extension Manager after this operation. But also note that some preference settings may also be wiped out.

If the un-wanted extension is still listed within Extension Manager, then take a look within Extension Manager's Program Files folder:
C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Extension Manager\Configuration\Extensions
and look for a .mxi and .mxp file that matches the un-wanted extension. Delete those files.
