Uninstalling linuxconf rpm from Redhat9 ? - Linux Setup, Configuration & Administration

Hi, I have been playing with linuxconf on Redhat9. I downloaded the latest rpm and installed using rpm -i linuxconf*.rpm This installed linuxconf, and I could use it. Default Uninstalling linuxconf rpm from Redhat9 ?

    Hi,

I have been playing with linuxconf on Redhat9.
I downloaded the latest rpm and installed using
    rpm -i linuxconf*.rpm

This installed linuxconf, and I could use it.

When I tried to uninstall using
    rpm -i linuxconf*.rpm

It gave an error saying that the particular rpm is not installed.
Is there a specific directory from which I should uninstall ?
The rpm man pages did not help much.

On the subject of rpm: Is there a way to add extra packages to
the rpms listed in the package manager in gnome ? It seems to
list only the packages available on the install CDs.

    Try: rpm -e linuxconf

Firstly, the option to uninstall is '-e', but I suspect the above is a
    typo.

Secondly, if you re-read the man page, you'll notice that it uses
    the terms PACKAGE_FILE and PACKAGE_NAME.

The former refers to the file - i.e. the rpm file ('linuxconf*.rpm'
as you've referred to it above). The latter refers to the name of
the package, NOT the file (so, in this case 'linuxconf')

    Therefore, try 'rpm -e linuxconf'

Can't answer that off the top of my head.

    Thank, this did the trick.
