    Try a derived table.

    select *
    into your_new_table
    from (
    select *
    from NormalizedData n join Hardwaiver.dbo.MaxDate m
    on n.ID= m.ID
    union
    select *
    from NormalizedData n join Hardwaiver.dbo.MaxDate m
    on n.ID= m.SN
    ) as X

    Hi Denis,

You can do this without a UNION:

    SELECT DISTINCT <columnlist>
    FROM NormalizedData n
    inner join Hardwaiver.dbo.MaxDate m
    ON n.ID= m.ID OR n.ID= m.SN

That's true, although sometimes a UNION is faster than an OR. Good question
to answer using the Query yzer: run the two versions and see which is
    faster, Denis.

    Best regards.
