Default Unix System Admin Reference "Bible".

Hi gurus,
I plan to purchase some reading material on Unix System Admin &
Network Admin.

I am particularly interest in topics such as:

1. Swap space management.
2. Disk Partition ...
3. Network trouble-shooting.
4. Network management & monitoring (tools such as sniffer, ethereal,
etc).
5. Security.
6. Daemon, Unix processes, CPU resource usage ...
7. Secure Shell (ssh)
8. Device management.
9. Cache File System ...
10. Analyze system crash.

Is there any reference books out in the world which encompass all
the topic as mentioned ?? Please provide me with the ISBN ...

Really appreciate your advice. Thanks.

Regards,
Francis.

A good start is "Unix System Administration Handbook", ISBN 0131510517

That ISBN is for the second edition paperback. I don't know whether
there's a newer version.

Too much Solaris oriented :)

Especially this: http://docs.sun.com/db/coll/47.13

True - but two thirds of the newsgroups the OP posted to
are Sun specific, so assuming the OP woul dbe using Solaris
isn't too unreasonable, IMHO!

Better yet, it's free for download in PDF form, or almost always available
on the Interweb.

If you're interested in Sun-specific information, one good source
of information is the documents in the "System Administrator's
Collection". See these, for example:

http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-4073
http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-4074
http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-4075
http://docs.sun.com/db/doc/806-4076

You can buy these in dead tree format (and there are links that
give ISBN, etc.), but personally I'd rather view them as HTML
or download the PDFs for free.

Also, it does not contain any specific technical information,
but I've heard many well-respected system admins give high
praise to a book called "The Practice of System and Network
Administration", by Limoncelli and Hogan (ISBN 0201702711).
Not every challenge a systems administrator faces is a
technical computer problem, and this book provides valuable
general information that will help a system admin serve
his organization better.
