    Default unused cast members

How do I delete unused cast members..? (select in cast window delete, yes, but
what if it is a piece of code and I don't know if it is being used or not)

is there a way of finding out which ones are not used?

I have been deleting cast members like crazy from both the score and the cast
windows and the file size is not changing...

What can I do to reduce the size?

any help would be greatly appretiated.

well you're not going to reduce the file size much by deleting scripts
    anyway.
As scripts can call any cast member there is no automatic way for knowing
which cast members may be called upon.
    Obviously compressing/shocking reduces file size.

Well I would say it depends on the size of each of those!

Uncompressed sound is normally a big one for me.

    Then big fat images.

    Default Save and compact

You are doing Save and Compact, to speed normal save of complex project
files, director appends changed elements at te end of the files,
abandoning the old version somewhere in the middle of the file, save and
compact rewrites the entire file, eliminating outdated copies of members.

Director's loss file size doesn;t predict the final size of a shockwave
compressd file ( that can be used with a projector )
