Unwanted characters inserted
We use quark 6.0 and 6.5 and Illustrator 10 to create acrobat files in versions 5 and 7 on Mac G4's.
When outputting the Acrobat files to film, lately our printer has been having a problem with characters (the letters "y" or "h") inserting themselves at the end of lines of text that are created in Illustrator, (even after manual returns.) We had never had this problem before and are using the same applications.
These letters do not exist on any layers in Illustrator, nor do they appear when viewing the acrobat files, or printing the acrobat files to paper. They only appear when they are output to film and we have had 3 color ads appear in our publications with these unwanted letters. When I review the Acrobat files, there is not even an empty space after the text for these letters to insert themselves into.
The printer is using Acrobat 5.
We are having problems determining where the problem lies and at who's end.
Could they need a new driver for their imagesetter? I'm in the process of finding out what kind of imagesetter they use.
Any direction would be helpful.
Thanks!
Kelly
