Re: Unwanted font substitution
About the second problem mentionned (random font substitution when opening a document), I have been experiencing it for a while now but only rarely, 'til it did it again with two documents yesterday. Having time to spare, I searched if other poeple had experienced the same problem and ended up on this thread.
I'm running (at work) on a Powermac G4 with Mac OS 10.3.9. I use InDesign CS, but also have CS2 and all the fonts are on a server which we manage with Suitcase X1. I DO NOT use auto-activation. From what I can remember, the substitution only happenned with CS and usually we would open the problematic doc on another computer (most probably the one on which the doc had been created to start with) and it was fine, with the correct fonts.
I quit and restarted ID, same thing for the computer, trashed ID's prefs, deactivated all fonts... nothing worked. So just for the heck of it, I opened one of the documents that was having the problem in CS2, and IT WAS FINE! So I exported it in InDesign Interchange format, opened that in CS and voilą, PROBLEM FIXED!
Have no idea on what could be causing the substitution, but that little workaround seems to fix it.
Hope this can help.
