Unwanted "s" in section marker

Default Unwanted "s" in section marker

Using InDesign 2.0.2 under Windows XP.

In a long document (almost 300 pages) I have set up left header as Book title and right header as chapter title. I vary the chapter titles by entering each chapter title as a "section marker." Unfortunately, these section markers always add an "s" to the section marker I enter. The "s" both displays and prints. So, for example, "Commitment" displays and prints as "Commitments" and "Friends" displays and prints as "Friendss."

I have reopened the section window, deleted every letter of text and retyped the entry. The "s" never shows up in the section window, but always shows up on the actual spread.

    Any ideas?

I solved my own problem--a typo on the master page, of course.

    Thanks anyway,

Gee, I wish you'd gone into a bit more detail.

For hours, I've been trying to do the very thing you described: add section markers to define header-text chapter-by-chapter. I've found NOTHING about this is the user guide, the in-program help, Adobe's Classroom in a Book, or the (very long) third-party InDesign Bible.

Ah well, as they said on The X-Files: "The truth is out there..." (Meanwhile, if you see this, please explain---thanks!)

    Andy,

Speaking of details, you're leaving us guessing as to what your problem is.

(Couldn't resist the temptation to quote myself.)

I've since learned how to do it (Pages palette > palette menu > Numbering and Section Options). Guess this is why they pay us the big bucks, eh?
