Unwanted/unexpected opening of internet explorer/windows (not normal "pop ups")
Dear newsgroup,
It appears that one of the websites I visited in last
month or so put something in my computer so that it
registers a request to open internet explorer and tries
to go to websites I haven't requested and don't
recognize. Sometimes this includes attempting to
download files. Website names
include "specials4you.com" When I try to locate where
the request is coming from, I found at least one time
that it was listed under "properties" at following
location:
windows/system32/shdoclc.dll/offcncl.htm#http://specials4y
ou.com
Any ideas about how to get this out of my system?
Thanks,
Ethan Mark

Do a google search for "Adaware" and "Spybot" download and run these
programs to rid your machine from spyware.

Your browser is hijacked by some spyware:
SpyBot S&D searches your harddisk for Spyware and Adware
http://security.kolla.de/
and
Adaware (similar)
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
(Remember to perform a Webupdate to have the latest definitions installed)
