Updating 3.0 to 3.1. Or not.
What is an MSP file and how do I use it to update Contribute 3.0 to
3.1? The updater FAQ says just double click on the downloaded file but
the downloaded file is a zip so all double-clicking does is open Winzip
to reveal that the archived payload inside it is
Contribute_3_1_Updater.msp, which my system thinks is an image file and
tries to open with my image editor (PSP). I'm stuck. Thanks.

Re: Updating 3.0 to 3.1. Or not.
This is fixed. It turns out that, apparently, MS used MSP for both old
MS Paint files and more recently Windows Installer files.
Disassociating *.msp from my image editor and then downloading and
re-installing Windows Installer solved the problem. I have no idea how
it occurred, however, and why it showed up now, since Windows Installer
obviously has worked until now, and I haven't made any changes in my
image editor configuration in months if not years.
