Updating Interface etc -> best method? - Mac Programming

Hi, I'm totally new to Cocoa. First of all I created my interface in Interface Builder. I added the Outlets and Actions etc. I programmed my code in Xcode and realised I needed to add another action. I go into Interface Builder and add the new action and make sure the button targets the Action ok. Default Updating Interface etc -> best method?

    Hi,

    I'm totally new to Cocoa.

First of all I created my interface in Interface Builder. I added the
    Outlets and Actions etc.

I programmed my code in Xcode and realised I needed to add another action.

I go into Interface Builder and add the new action and make sure the button
    targets the Action ok.

When I go to Create Files, it says that it'll overwrite the existing code
in Xcode - which would mean losing all my existing code!

What's the best method when needing to update an Interface without
overwriting your current code in Xcode?

    Hope that makes sense :S

Really appreciate any help or advice.

    Thanks.

When adding outlets and actions to already existing classes, instead of
adding your new actions in IB, write them in the appropriate header
file in xCode. Then either drag the file from xCode to the nib window
in IB or use the Read Files menu choice from the Classes menu in IB to
p you modified header file. (Make sure you have saved your
modified header first: if you haven't saved it yet, the changes won't
be reflected in IB when you p the file.)

BTW, I meant to mention that you could try looking at Interface
Builder's help which contains an article "Adding Actions and Outlets to
    an Existing Class".

A good (?) - the one I'm using - solution is to manually edit the
interface in XCode and re-read it from IB.
No problems and no surprises !

Thank you both for your help! Very much appreciated and it helps a lot.

It's all new to me but your answers are great.

    Thanks again.
