    Default Updating multiple Links ?

I have a website which I use to link to documents published as .PDF files. I
typically develop my page(s) in Contribute, establish a link to the .PDF (using
"File on my Computer"). and publish the page. Contribute uploads the needed
..PDF file to my site as well. All is good....but....

I may also have numerous other links across the site to that same .PDF. Now,
say I need to update the information in that .PDF. When I publish it again,
(say the original document was called MyFile.PDF) a new file is uploaded -
MyFile_000.pdf. Now the one updated link works, but all other links across the
site still go to the old file - MyFile.pdf. Not good.

So... how do I fix things so that - 1) Contribute does not post a second new
version ( i.e. MyFile_000.pdf or MyFile_001.pdf) but instead simply overwrites
the original file thus preserving the correct information for other links
    throughout my site.
    -or perhaps instead-
    2) updates the related links sitewide so they point to the new file -
    MyFile_000.pdf
    -and finally-
    3) After updating repeatedly, I can wind up with a whole collection of old
    files - i.e. MyFile_000.pdf, MyFile_001.pdf, MyFile_003.pdf, etc. - Doesn't
Contribute have some means of doing some housekeeping so these orphaned files
are not left out there taking up space?

I can't believe I'd have to update all related links manually would I ???

    Thanks

    Rick

    :D

Yay! After getting Technical Support on the phone, I learned that the
problem wasn't me, that apprently this had been a problem for other users and
thus in Version 3.1 (if you don't have this new update - get it!), rather than
    create a new file (i.e. MyFile.pdf, then MyFile_000.pdf, then MyFile_001.pdf)
it prompts that you have a file with the same name and asked if you want to
overwrite it. Yes! That's exactly what I want to do with an updated file.
Renaming (which is what prior versions of Contribute did) would break any other
links on my site to that file. This makes much more sense! Thanks Macromedia
    for fixing this!!
