Default Upgrade Acrobat 5 to Acrobat 6 ?

My advice regarding the upgrade is: DON'T DO IT !

I installed the upgrade on my PC, and I had nothing but problems with it. My scanner (hp officejet d145)wouldn't "see" it, therefore can't write to it. HP tells me that Acrobat 6.0 standard is not supported by the Officejet.

    The "fix"?

Yep, you guessed it. Uninstall the Acrobat 6.0 and re-install the Acrobat 5. Works like it's supposed to.

    Thanks

    John

old hardware, old software, seems fair.

We have all been guilty in the past, possibly helped by 'simpler' software and operating systems allowing mixes of old and new.

This seems to be increasingly difficult these days and I would recommend that anyone considering changing anything on their PC seriously consider the knock-on effects.

I recently upgraded (re-installed) my HP pavillion 93x PC from Win Me to XP PRO, after spending many hours researching, making sure I had updated drivers etc etc etc.

I STILL had to get a new sound driver from HP as the volume buttons on the kb did not work, and had to upgrade Nero to ver 6.0 (it's not always a backwards problem).

For what it's worth, HP scanjet 7450c works fine with Acrobat 6.0 (better than 5.0 actually).

And for what its worth, just having upgraded to 6.0 from living in 5.0 pretty intensely for almost two years -- 6.0 fulfills the original definition of what a major release is about. I wouldnt go back to 5.0 unless you put a gun to my head :) My advise: upgrade your hardware, for this one. It's truly worth it. Which is not to say there arent a glitch or two -- but its not like a Bill Gates software upgrade which uses everyone as guinae pigs.
