Default Upgrade to 3.01 Renders InDesign non-functional

I just installed the entire CS Suite about two weeks ago, and all applications were in working order. Today I got the update popup to upgrade ID to 3.0.1, did so, and now it won't even open files. Opening files by clicking on an .indd file, or by accessing "File > Open", both result in a "Not Responding" application. Running XP.

Try trashing your prefs and see if that helps.

I too am having problems with the upgraded program (ver 3.01.460).
Tried the cntrl-alt-shift thing to reset pref's, even deleted the program and re-installed to no avail.

    The indesign.log file reads:

Without the upgrade it seems to work fine, but with it - oh brother.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

I too had problems after installing the 3.01 update. InDesign would not work so I had to uninstall and reinstall the program. I have not tried to install the update after that. I am running Win2000. After removing the program and doing a reinstall, it worked fine after that.
I wonder why it won't work?

Here's the thread to read. Check out whether you bought the beta version of InDesign, which cannot be upgraded.

Steve, that thread doesn't seem to help with my problem. I don't believe the "beta" ver is an issue.

One way to be sure...hold Ctrl-Alt-Shift then click Help and About. Mine
    says something like

    AdobeInDesign Version CS(424)

    What does your say?

(I'm not savvy enough to tell you if that's beta, if it is someone is sure
to comment, but at least you now know about this nifty file info tool. )

    Demian,

You have to check ID version BEFORE update to 3.0.1.

Another symptom appears when you open old documents, created with your IDCS 3. If your IDCS 3.0.1 converts them, it was beta before update.
