Upgrading From Toast 4.1.1? - Mac Applications & Software

When I bought my LaCie CD burner, it came with Toast 4.1.1 and for the most part, it's been pretty good. Now, I have a problem. I'm trying to make a bootable copy (OS 9.1 is as high as the Powermac 5400 will allow) of HardDisk Toolkit onto a CD-ROM. Whenever I do this, I always get a CD-ROM that boots up but that always gives me a dialogue box which reads "Please insert 'Bootable Toolkit' [the name I gave to the disc]" and then gives me the option of cancelling. Default Upgrading From Toast 4.1.1?

When I bought my LaCie CD burner, it came with Toast 4.1.1 and for the
most part, it's been pretty good. Now, I have a problem. I'm trying
to make a bootable copy (OS 9.1 is as high as the Powermac 5400 will
allow) of HardDisk Toolkit onto a CD-ROM. Whenever I do this, I
always get a CD-ROM that boots up but that always gives me a dialogue
box which reads "Please insert 'Bootable Toolkit' [the name I gave to
the disc]" and then gives me the option of cancelling. The CD drive
remains closed. I press cancel and the box comes right back up in the
blnk of an eye. So, I press cancel about six times and the problem
goes away. But if I try to run any programs on the disc, I get the
same dialogue box which requires repeated clicks on the cancel button.
Usually the program crashes. I've gone as far as backing up all my
data, wiping the hard drive clean, reinstalling the system software,
Toast, and HardDisk Toolkit. No dice. Always the same problem. I
really need a bootable version of HardDisk Toolkit (the CD-ROM that I
purchased contains OS 9.2 which won't work on my computer).

So, I'm thinking maybe the problem is Toast. Maybe it's just a lousy
program for this. Should I purchase the newer version for OS 9.1
(Toast 5 Titanium)? Or am I just stuck with a lousy burner? Perhaps
there's a better (and maybe cheaper) product on the line. Can anyone
    help?

I seem to recall having similar problems with some other software. I
was using the full version of Toast at the time. I believe the solution
to the problem was to create a disk image and put everything on there,
make sure the disk image is mounted and then burn the volume.

Hope that makes some sense and solves your problem.

    Dear Matt,

Thanks. I don't know if it solves the problem, but I'll try it. I
don't yet know how to make a disk image, but I'm sure the explanation
is with the Toast software. Thanks again.
