    Default USB card reader/iPhoto

    Hi,

Is there any way to stop OS X from launching iPhoto when I attach a
USB Smart Media card reader? (I am comfortable w/ command-line or GUI
    ways of doing this.)

Even easier: Run the Image Capture program that's in your Applications
folder, go to Preferences, and change what to do "When a camera is
connected." (I know it's not a camera, but it treats it as one for
this purpose.) Change it to "No Application," and you should be all
    set.

    open /Applications/Image Capture
open the the prefs, and choose "no application" from the "when a camera is
    connected" popup menu.

This stops iPhoto from launching when i put a compactflash card in my
PCMCIA, so probably worth a shot.
