Usenet news servers - recommendations - Mac Networking

Can anyone recommend some good free Usenet news servers. Text-based news groups are OK for now - don't need the more esoteric types. I'm mainly interested in the comp.*, rec.* and misc.* groups at the moment. I'd appreciate some "news.foo.com" style references to these servers. Thanks, Eric...

I've been using TeraNews for a few years now:
    http://www.teranews.com/
Tera News: Free uncensored NNTP news server

The page says "Free!" but it's actually a one-time 3$ charge. Seems to scare
    the spammers away.

My main account is Earthlink but when not on Earthlink access I use
TeraNews. They occasionally have bouts of slowness but overall no
    complaints.

Not very well. I added teranews.com to my banned-site list long ago.

No, it's not, because there are a number of people who use the
x-no-archive headers, so google won't pick up those messages.

Does that mean when I send from TeraNews you can't see my posts? that would
    be too bad...

Regardless, I don't see any more spam on TeraNews groups than Earthlink,
    Google or RCN.

Seconded. I still use it as it's far better for text only groups than
    any server an ISP has.
