userid and password in html ?

I need to link to a 2nd web site/page (different host name) from a link on
my primary web page.

i.e. from a page on [url]www.pcwp.com[/url] I need to link to
[url]www.storminfo.net/members/1/main.htm[/url] without the user having to enter his
username and password information for [url]www.storminfo.net[/url].

I tried [url]http://username:password@www.storminfo.net/members/1/main.htm[/url] ,
where username is the username and password is the password, but this came
up with a page not found message in IE.

What is the proper way to do this?
