Users cannot edit page
Using Contribute 3 with CPS. Our users update their pages at least once per
week. Occasionally, they will lock and I will have to delete the .lck file so
that they can edit again. Sometimes when I do this, if the user goes back into
Contribute and attempts to click the edit button, nothing happens - no error,
no edit screen. If the user goes to a different machine and logs in with his
credentials, everything works fine. If I uninstall/reinstall the app,
everything will work. Is there another way to solve this without spending the
time uninstallint/reinstalling? I tried deleting the connection key and
recreating it, but that didn't seem to help.

Re: Users cannot edit page
Sounds like it might have something to with the draft files on the user's
computer. The default location for thise on a Windows system is C:\Documents
and Settings, and when a user edits a page, the draft and .lck file will appear
in a sub-folder of Contribute's Sites folder. My guess is that if the .lck
files there get out of synch with .lck files on the server you could run into
problems.

Re: Users cannot edit page
I didn't find any *.lck files anywhere on the workstation, but I did delete the
site folder in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Application
Data\Macromedia\Contribute 3\Sites. Still have the same problem.

Re: Users cannot edit page
Contribute does not place any .lck files on the local system. It only
places them on the server.
I am shocked on how uninstall and reinstall can help this? Before
uninstalling you may want to try this in future
1. Remove all the connections and create the connection
2. Quit and relaunch
3. if nothing works, go to regedit and clear your contribute
preferences. This should work at least.

Re: Users cannot edit page
Well, an uninstall/reinstall worked on one machine, but for another user, I
can't edit it anywhere - nothing happens when I press the edit button. Tried
another machine, had the same problem. Tried another username. Tried deleting
the page off the server and re-creating it. Tried restarting CPS. Tried all
of the previous steps. For now, I re-named the file and updated the links on
the site, and it is working, but any time I have a file with the previous name
it doesn't work.
