Using AI brush in Photoshop
I have Photoshop 6.0, and AI 8.0 on WinXP. I want to use a brush from AI (dashed line 1.5) in AP. I have tried dragging the selected, brushed path from AI to AP, but the path in AP ends up un-brushed, although the dashed line design is retained. How do I get the brush to work in AP?

Re: Using AI brush in Photoshop
Select your path in Illustrator and go Object/Expand Appearance. Now if you select your path again you will notice the actual stroke or scatter or whatever is now selectable vector.
I'm assuming AP stands for Adobe Photoshop®? People might understand you better if you called it PS, if you must shorten it.
Now drag your path into PS. ;)

Re: Using AI brush in Photoshop
JSD,
You can also create a dashed line in Photoshop by setting the brush spacing
to > 100%

Re: Using AI brush in Photoshop
Thanks--using Object/Expand in AI made it possible to copy the path (stroked with the dashed road brush) into PS. However, since I'm trying to trace a road on a map in PS with the dashed road taken from AI, I ran into a problem: the brush I created in PS from the sample I copied from AI did not work properly; I got a stroke that did not follow the road!

Re: Using AI brush in Photoshop
I solved the problem, with your help. First, I opened my PS file in AI as a tracing template, then drew the roads & brushed with the dashed line. Next the template was deleted, the dashed roads saved as an AI file, then selected and expanded with object>expand. Then the selection was control/dragged into the original PS file, moved into place, and the layer with the undesirable-looking roads deleted.
