Default Using Contribute on my New computer

My laptop recetly died, but I managed to save the hard drive. It's now my
external HD for my new desk top. I am trying to edit my website using
contribute 3.1 and I click on the install icon on the exernal hard drive. It
    says the following error...
"1. Failed to install ISKernel files. Make sure you have appropriate
    privileges on this machine."

    Can someone help me???
