Default Using dreamweaver for MySQL help needed!

We are trying to connect a MySQL database to a new web-site through
    Dreamweaver. We have:
    Downloaded the MySQL software
    Input some data fields
Opened a new folder on my computer for pages specifically for the new web-site
    (where the database will be)
    Opened a php page
Gone to the database settings and setting up the site definitions for
database-we are choosing FTP access and the test goes through ok to connect to
    our web server
Then last step-click the + sign and go to fill in the details and click select
to find the database and it is not finding it and saying 'error 405 method not
    allowed'
I am stumped can anyone help??
