Using Keyboard keys - Macromedia Director 3D

I want to use either the shift key, space key or control key to control a character in my 3D world. I have already got my character moving forward, back and turning using the arrow keys but want to use the other keys so i can make the character look up and down. It just does seem to recognise the key when i am pressing it. Any ideas? Thanks heaps Nat...
