Default UTF search for verity???

i've a website that is in UTF-8 with language of Japanese and Korean. But
when i tried to create an japanese and korean verity index and update the
verity, it hangs there.

I suspect it could be because of UTF.. thus how do i create an UTF verity
collection instead?

if you're using mx 7, then download the
http://www.macromedia.com/support/coldfusion/verity_reg/register/index.cgi?lang=
English and use "unilanguage" to index your docs. w/ver 7 verity finally
handles unicode.

if you're not up to mx 7 yet, you'll have to look at using ms index server (if
using iis) or maybe lucene.

Thanks Paul. We're currently in the process of upgrading to MX7, i'll take a
look at the UTF verity support. Thanks again.

Hi Paul,

strange.. my company recently bought the upgrade of V7. And i tried to go
back into the link you recommended. But it only shows me 2 links for
download:

Asian/European Search Pack (ZIP, 41.41MB)
English Search Pack (ZIP, 8.40MB)

I tried installing the Asian/European pack into my c:\cfusion7 directory and
restart the server. But when i tried to create my verify collection, it only
shows me ENGLISH (basic) and ENGLISHX (advanced) under the language
selection.

Is there something wrong? or did i install it in the wrong directory?
Because i've also tried c:\cfusion\verify\k2\common. it doesnt work as well.

sigh...

quoted from the sargeway website it states:

"The ColdFusion Verity Search Packs are an Enterprise-only feature. In CFMX
you could go to the Verity Search Packs page (www.macromedia.com/go/verity)
and submit any valid license (Professional and Enterprise) and download the
search packs. If you try to use a CFMX 7 Professional license you will only
be able to download the CFMX 6.x search packs. The only way to get the CFMX
7 Verity Search Packs is with a valid CFMX 7 Enterprise license."

If i had knew this, i would not have spend the money to upgrade to V7. At
least with V6 i could still index other languages. So my only solution is to
get an enterprise license which i never will.

Thanks again for your help paul

We (the dev team) are looking in to why this is the case.

I personally (not speaking with any authority) don't think an Enterprise
license should be required for the Language Search Packs....

Why? You get a lot more cool stuff.

Hi,

for us, in the first case, because it's nearly five times as expensive as the
professional version!

We, in fact, talked to an "authority" (which was the mm support), which
confirmed this situation. Language-packs are no longer available for the
prof-version. And worst on that is, that it's documented nowhere! It took the
european support over ten days to give us an answer to that question! Even in
this forum no mm-official argues on that manner, although this is not the first
thread on it.

To get back point of that thread, downloading the unicode-pack is not a proper
solution, 'cause he and neither me can download this packeage. It's only for
enterprise. Maybe it would help to offer at least this package....

Regards,

Sebastian

We are reviewing the Standard edition restriction for the Verity Search Packs.
I will post an update once we've implemented a change (some modifications to
the download page are required that will take a short amount of time).

Thanks for your patience with this issue.

Hi,

I've got Coldfusion 6.1 MX running on a Linux Redhat Enterprise server.
I ran the hotfix update a couple weeks ago. Now I realize that I need lang
packs in order to have French search functionality.

I just downloaded the file verity_linux_eur.tar - European Search Pack (TAR,
60.21MB) and tried to unpack it with:

tar -xvf verity_linux_eur.tar

and I got the following errors:

lib/
lib/_ilnx21/
lib/_ilnx21/bin/
lib/_ilnx21/bin/browse
tar: Skipping to next header
tar: Archive contains obsolescent base-64 headers
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

I downloaded the file a second time just to make sure, but got the same
result.
So it looks like the file is corrupted.
Could somebody check this out for me please.
Thanks,
Dom

Thought I should add that we have a valid enterprise licence and used it to download the verity lang pack.

I downloaded the Linux Verity search pack from macromedia.com. My file size
was 61.7MB (reported by firefox) and 63,136,256 bytes (via ls).

- WinZip opened it with no problem.
- tar -xvf extracted it with no problem on a Linux Red Hat 2.1AS system:

# ls -l verity_linux_eur.tar
61728 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 63136256 May 17 08:45
verity_linux_eur.tar

# cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Linux Advanced Server release 2.1AS (Pensacola)

Hope that helps.
