V7 control center --> v8 server connectivity - IBM DB2

Hi there, I have 7.2 fixpak 10a Administration Client on win2000 SP4. I can successfully use Control Center(CC) to connect v7 databases, but I cannot connect to v8.1 fixpak3 database on AIX. CC correctly discovers the node/instance/database(I can connect via prompt using db2 connect to ....), but when I click instance on CC, I get an error-message: "SQL1650N The fuction envoked is no longer supported". Then when I click on database name, the 3 wheels start to turn and then CC doesn't respond anymore: have to kill it. I tried to connect also with version 8 CC, and it worked ...

Default V7 control center --> v8 server connectivity

    Hi there,

    I have 7.2 fixpak 10a Administration Client on win2000 SP4. I can
successfully use Control Center(CC) to connect v7 databases, but I
cannot connect to v8.1 fixpak3 database on AIX. CC correctly discovers
the node/instance/database(I can connect via prompt using db2 connect
to ....), but when I click instance on CC, I get an error-message:
"SQL1650N The fuction envoked is no longer supported". Then when I
click on database name, the 3 wheels start to turn and then CC doesn't
respond anymore: have to kill it.
I tried to connect also with version 8 CC, and it worked with no
problems, so I think the server side setup is OK.

I suppose, v7 CC should be able to connect v8 database, right? I
haven't fould any references that this will not work anyway ...

    Any help appreciated.

    Rgds,
    Jukka

It should work, although obviously not all features are supported. I have
used a V7.2 FP9 Admin Client running on windows to connect to V8 FP2 running
    on Linux.

Nope, V7 CC cannot administer V8 databases; it's listed in the V8
    doentation.
