    Default Veritas 3.1 error StorEDGE array

    Hi!

    I have a remotely-managed client who sffered an air conditioning outage
    over the weekend.

    On re-starting their E5000 (Solaris 2.6) one volume fails to mount.
    Here's a bit from vxprint;

    v db fsgen DISABLED 20480000 - ACTIVE -
    -
    pl db-01 db DISABLED 20482448 - RECOVER -
    -
    sd appdg11-02 db-01 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg01-02 db-01 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg07-01 db-01 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg08-01 db-01 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg17-01 db-01 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    pl db-03 db DISABLED 20482448 - IOFAIL -
    -
    sd appdg21-01 db-03 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg22-01 db-03 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg24-01 db-03 ENABLED 4096400 0 -
    sd appdg25-01 db-03 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -
    sd appdg34-01 db-03 ENABLED 4096400 0 - -
    -

    The two plexes with problems are;

    Plex: db-01
    info: len=20482448 contiglen=20481936
    type: layout=STRIPE columns=5 width=128
    state: state=ACTIVE kernel=DISABLED io=read-write
    assoc: vol=db
    sd=appdg11-02,appdg01-02,appdg07-01,appdg08-01,appdg17-01
    flags: complete recover

    Plex: db-03
    info: len=20482448 contiglen=20481936
    type: layout=STRIPE columns=5 width=128
    state: state=ACTIVE kernel=DISABLED io=read-write
    assoc: vol=db
    sd=appdg21-01,appdg22-01,appdg24-01,appdg25-01,appdg34-01
    flags: complete recover iofail

    Although the array has one dead disk, it isn't from this disk group.

    Anyone any ideas on how to solve this snag. From the looks of it the
    system crash has resulted in the two plexes being rendered corrupt.

    I vaguely remember a possible fix routine involving vxmend, but is there
    a routine I can pursue to get over the plex with the IOFAIL error?

    Any assistance (particularly with suggested command-line syntax) would
    be greatly appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Darren,

    That was it. Right at the end though a vxrecover was performed which
    apparently did the final bit before the file system was mounted (a
    colleague performed it whilst I travelled).

    Thanks for the comprehensive response,
