Verity collection size limitation

Default Verity collection size limitation

In Verity's document about how to incorporate searching in ColdFusion
(http://www.verity.com/webex/2004/09/ult_cf_qa_092404.pdf) they mention that
there is a 250k size limit on all the collections.

1) How do I find the size of my collections?
2) What happens if the collections get larger than 250k?
3) Does CFMX 7.0 remove this restriction?

Kind Regards,
Peter

CF 7 tells you in the CF administrator how many documents are in each
collection. On 6.1 I suppose you could just do a "get all" search on
your collections and get the record count of the query that's
returned--there may be an easier way but I don't know of one off the
top of my head.
> 2) What happens if the collections get larger than 250k?
I believe it starts throwing errors. There was a thread about this in
one of the forums a bit ago; I think it stops letting you run searches
and sticks an error saying you've gone over the limit in your error
logs. I haven't ever exceeded the limit myself so I don't know for
sure what the exact behavior is.
> 3) Does CFMX 7.0 remove this restriction?
No, the limitations are the same--125K documents for CF Standard, 250K
documents for Enterprise. If you need to index more documents than
that you'd have to look into purchasing a Verity license separate from
CF.

Does the 250K limit pertain to the number of documents in total or for every
collection?

Thanks

That's total on the server across all collections, not per collection.

If you're indexing a database query, is each line of the query considered a "document" for the purposes of this count?
