... Very general questions
Hi Everyone,
I am a novice/intermediate web designer with experience in Dreamweaver, but
none in Contribute. I have been given an assignment to build a website for a
company, but they would like control over editing its main content.
How do I define the area where they can edit? How do I give them the
authority to do so? And what do they need to possess to edit? (they don't
actually need to have contribute too, do they?)
Thanks for all your help.
Tara

Re: ... Very general questions
1. Create your Dreamweaver Template as usual.
2. In the Dreamweaver main menu go to: Insert, Template Objects, Editable
region
3. This Editable region will show up in Contribute as a blue box where your
users can edit content

Re: ... Very general questions
Thanks very much. Who is "users"? How can I specify who can edit, and do they need contribute to do so?

Re: ... Very general questions
You create a website using Dreamweaver with 'Editable regions'.
Your users are the ones that use Contribute to update the content of the site.
Of course you need Contribute for your users and most likely for yourself.
You can Administer your site and users through Contribute.
Download the trial and try it out, I would suggest...

Re: ... Very general questions
as a default contribute has 3 user roles for you to use:
1.administrator
2.Publisher
3.Writer
the administrator will be the one setting up the user roles and permissions
like which page they can edit or who can edit thisparticular page for security
purposes of the site= )
when you download a trial it comes with a manual i suggest that you read thru
deploying contribute or go thru the help files, that will get you running in no
time=)
