Default very newbie questions about CF

:o Apologies in advance but need real user advice here... can I use the
ColdFusion functionality built into Dreamweaver MX 2004 to build a database
driven site, if I have the Coldfusion developer version installed? trying to
work out if I would need the full version of ColdFusion to build dynamic site
or if the inbuilt CF functions in dreamweaver are enough for a fairly basic
site. what limitations on the functionality of the end site are imposed if I
do not use the full CF, but just use the CF within Dreamweaver? Thanks for
    your help Charlie

    >yes you can.

    >well, using dev or full version of cfmx will help you, without cfmx you
    cannot test your application functionality..

you can run situation where you code some functionality not available on

ps. get you free copy of cfmx 7 developer version, at least try it!

Kim thanks for the info... so to be clear if I use the developer version of
CF I will be limited to only a couple of websites? (this is OK for me for now
anyway) or the 'free for a while' download of CF7 will revert to developer
version which again will limit me to one or two websites only? thanks

'couple ip addresses' didn't mean sites, it meant visitors. The CF Server you
get with Dev allows yourself (127.0.0.1) and one other IP to vist. That's why
it's OK for Dev. You get to test your own pages and if you want to be totally
sure Outsiders will work the same you can have one person visit from somewhere
else. Once you go live with many visitors, you'll need Standard, Enterprise,
or make arrangements with a CF Hoster. All this is above an beyond any
database access which in essence you get for free, ie. CF allows you to talk
freely with any DB engine you have installed, purchased or free.
