View ALT key short cuts - Adobe Indesign Windows

I think that's a Windows preference. I like it, myself, as there are often times I press and release Alt, and there's little feedback that the next letter(s) i type will perform a random, unknow, menu selection, instead of appearing in my doent. If there were a way to disable this or remap the modifier to a multi-key combo, I'd be a little better off.

The preference, under Win XP, is in Display Properties>Appearance tab>Effects, last check box "Hide underlined letters for keyboard..."

Is there a way to turn this feature off completely?

    Richard,
Thanks for the help. I had assumed it was Adobe because I hadn't noticed it was the same for all windows apps.

    To Scott,
If you have it turned "off" in display props and you don't press ALT you won't see them.
    Cheers

By OFF, I mean completely not there. Not pressing ALT is not an option (I wish it was. There's another forum around hear on Indesign where it is). I want to NOT have menus activated when I press Alt.
