Default View: Extras- how to not have selected upon file open

I searched and didn't see a post on this, so I will try. How can I get rid of the Extras flag always showing when a file is opened in CS? I have never found a preference to turn it off, so I always have to go up to the menu bar and select "View/Extras" and deselect it.

    Thanks,

    Cory

AH! I have the very same problem. It's driving me nuts because I work with a large number of photos at once and turning the grid off every time I open one is ridiculous.

    Found this elsewhere :)

"turn off the view slices in view>show (under view>extras) then quit and re-start Photoshop, it should stop them appearing automatically."

    It works!
