vImage framework - experiences? - Mac Programming

The vImage framework described at http://developer.apple.com/doentation/Performance/Conceptual/vImage/Chapter1/chapter_1_section_1.html looks useful. However when running the Example project "Tableau" on my G5 it seems rather buggy (images get oddly squashed when they shouldn't be, sometimes only a small square in the corner of the image is filtered). I also can't find any vImage.framework on my hard drive although I have installed the Developer Tools, and the vImage.framework entry under the "Linked Frameworks" group for Tableau in XCode is red (indicating a nonexistant file). Has anyone used this framework? I am trying to figure out a) whether it exists and b) whether it is mature ...

    Default vImage framework - experiences?

    The vImage framework described at
    http://developer.apple.com/doentation/Performance/Conceptual/vImage/Chapter1/chapter_1_section_1.html
looks useful. However when running the Example project "Tableau" on
my G5 it seems rather buggy (images get oddly squashed when they
shouldn't be, sometimes only a small square in the corner of the image
    is filtered).

I also can't find any vImage.framework on my hard drive although I
have installed the Developer Tools, and the vImage.framework entry
under the "Linked Frameworks" group for Tableau in XCode is red
    (indicating a nonexistant file).

Has anyone used this framework? I am trying to figure out a) whether
it exists and b) whether it is mature enough to adopt.

    thanks for any input,

    On my 10.3 system, it's at /System/Library/Frameworks/Accelerate.framework/Frameworks/vImage.framework.

I am - I know there is no vImage for Jaguar...

Turns out I do have it. For some reason the Finder's Find... command
was not getting it. However "locate" on the command line found it at
the location you mention. Not finding it in the Finder and the other
red flags made me a little wary - I was able to set up some
convolutions and stuff though and it seems to work quite well. Not
sure what the problem is with the Tableau example. In the comments
they make rather a lot of apologetic disclaimers...

    Thanks for the reply,

The 2D convolution functions work great - I am getting weird stuff
with the scale functions though (e.g. ImageScale_Planar8). Can't seem
to find any examples of these in use...
