I am grateful for the helpful responses.
One of the spectra JPGs from Gernot's first link looks similar to a 'real' white light continuous spectrum, and will be suitable as a 'background for the graph.

you are welcome. If you want a quality graphic with specified RGB
distributions - this can be easily programmed.
Just necessary to know the mathematical description.
Will do some experiments when I have time.
