Volume Group Migration Question
Hello all,
We have a p6000 e server running AIX 5.1.0.0 patch 5100-03. We have a
large Volume Group consisting of multiple smaller logical volumes (in
a kingston disk box) mounted as a single mount point called "/DATA".
We will be getting a newer Pserver (new hardware new kernel everything
new) except we want to be able to use the disk set I mentioned above
with all of the data on it intact on the new server. The AIX version
will be 5.1 or newer. this will not be an upgrade but a fresh
install.
My question is the following. Is this a simple thing where I can
simply plug in the kingston disk box and see my Volume group? Is
there some special preparation or setup that must be performed or is
there no way that I can migrate a Volume Group with data on it to a
new machine?
Thanks.
