Default W2K to W2K3 Upgrade Issue.. Computer Policy hangs. :(

Did what I thought was a fairly strightforward in-place
upgrade and so far it hasn't proven to be one. The
server is a "white box" with an Intel P4 Mobo. The
upgrade went well until it had a problem with what I
assume is the Adaptec SATA RAID controller. I upgraded
the BIOS to the latest version not expecting it to matter
but it came back up and finished setup. Now the issue is
the server starts and gets to the Applying Computer
Policy portion then stays there.. for hours.
Interestingly enough it is not visible (ping) on the
network either. Even though the network already started
in theory. So the question is am I going back to tape
for a fun restore or can anyone here help.. please let
    me know. Thanks!

Default Re: W2K to W2K3 Upgrade Issue.. Computer Policy hangs. :(

    Hi,

I have had similar issue with my SATA Board which had drivers simply not
    signed for W2K3.
Downloading the W2K3 signed off drivers and update the drivers in Windows
    fixed my issue.
