    Default Waiting for Server error?

Here's the problem my client is having, which I have not been able to
re-create. Any ideas what is wrong?

We recently had a problem where he was not able to log in because Contribute
thought that I was still online and editing the site (of course, I wasn't.) I
saw no .lck files in the root folder, and eventually the client was able to
log in, but now it takes about 3 minutes for any of his edits to publish. He
says he constantly has to go back and edit the same page (to make it print on a
legal size sheet of paper) so trying to do 10-15 edits a day would be tough at
    this slow speed.

I have no idea what could be causing this. Any ideas?

    Quote from client email:
'When I publish it is still taking at minimum 3 minutes and as long as
six minutes to function. The message I consistently receive is "Waiting
    on the Server". '

    Thanks
    Pete

If they can get into the connection settings (Edit Connection>Connection
Information>Advanced) have them check to see if passive ftp is ticked. It seems
that Contribute might try to get connection settings from the server, and the
server may not be set up to provide those. I usually choose 'Passive', and have
rarely had long delays when publishing. good luck, rick

Since I posted the original message, I have sent 2 more connection keys: one
that detected server settings, and one with passive mode ticked, as you
    suggested. Apparently neither key worked.

I sent screenshots explaining how to set up a new connection with the passive
FTP settings and he still says he's having the same problems. Looks like a trip
over to his office might be in my future, although at this point I really doubt
there's anything more I can do.

Could this lag he's experiencing be the result of his firewall?

Thanks for the response, Rick; I appreciate it.
