Wallstreet/300 to 500 MHz?
I am considering upgrading my 300 MHz WS to 500 MHz. I am running OS
9.1.
I have been advised that the G3 upgrade is more compatible with the
balance of my machines system than the G4. I would like some imput
from someone who has done the upgrade to find out if you really did get
a big boost in speed and did you have any problems. I have heard the
G3 upgrade does not support the automatic sleep mode. Please advise.

upgrade, but did not. Instead, I increased ram to 512 and installed the
latest 10.2.6, the computer runs fine, fast enough for me, my friends with
800 PBooks can't believe how fast it is. I only have a 4.5 gig hard drive,
but by keeping my applics to essentials and copying photos to a cd, I still
have 1.6 gig free. You could get a 20 or 40 hdrive. So I don't think it's
worth upgrading to the new processor, too expensive for very little real
difference in spead, instead I would
- increase ram to max (512)
- get new hard drive if you plan on using the machine for a while, find the
right drive and you must install OSX on the first 8 gig (Wallstreets only)
- I use a macally pc card and have a belkin hub plugged into it, have 9 usb
ports
good luck
