Default was it a mistake AICS on OS X 10.3

Ok I went a did it, destroyed OS 9 and AI 8 & 10 and upgraded to OS 10.3 and AICS, if only I could turn back the clock.
1st problem: Printing from AICS with a file from AI 8 (opened but fonts not compatible (thats another story) to EPSON C60 result: colour all wrong (darker and flat),
2nd problem: printer options in print dialog box have been halved, Result: harder to choose grey and print draft quality.
3rd problem: any ideas on converting my original fonts so they are compatable with AICS.

I have been scrolling through the forum and have solved many of my problems and these are the 3 that are outstanding.

    can anyone shead some light???

    cheers

You'll eventually get everything working right, I expect, but to answer your question, yeah, it was kind of a mistake to get rid of all your prior versions. You may need them for a while for any number of reasons, until the whole world is on CS.
Hopefully others will respond to your specific questions, since I don't have the answers. The font issues are the main reason to keep older versions available for legacy documents.

Wait for input from the experts that lurk around this forum before reloading. I'm not sure if a reload of an earlier version might overwrite some important files that CS needs. You might find it necessary to reinstall both apps (10 first) but again, I'm not an expert on this and hopefully Wade or someone else will have your answer.

It won't eliminate the font issues, but will provide you with a workaround that can keep your workflow going. You may need to keep some of your legacy documents in AI10 for a while. Have you skimmed through the thread in this forum on "the new text engine"?
