As far as images are concerned, you really can't.
Unless you keep everything smaller than 640x480 to accomodate anyone
still running in that mode. And remember that even someone running
640x480 needs images smaller than that to keep from scrolling because of
browser overhead (menus, status bars, etc).

Images have x by x pixel dimensions, simple as that.
The higher the screen rez folks are running, the smaller the image will
    appear on screen.

As far as text, it will naturally wrap or you can limit screen size by
using tables with % calls; or use CSS (beyond me).
You should generally avoid making images of text wherever possible.

It would be wonderful, IMHO, if you could define a Web page with all the layout set the way you and have that scale in size according to the resolution and window size of the client.

But you can't, as HTML doesn't work like that.

IE 6 has a Zoom object. you can display e.g. buttons at a maginified size etc.. Maybe you can zoom the BODY object (and thus its containing contents) to a certain size dependent on screen dimentions (via script).

h_d: Yes IE6 can do a zoom-to-fit on images, but that's all. Text layout is still inflexible. Also, the zoom is switchable, so you can't assume that it will be there. However, a browser could be designed that did scaling.

You cannot; You can however create a page that is 'compatible' with all screen resoulutions etc..

I would say the 800x600 is the standard web resouluion. (640x480..let them have to scroll the browser window..) There fore design for this resolution

Create pages by using invisible column/rows via creating a TABLE with 0 width border/padding/cell spacing.. thus making it invisible. Then Creating cell within it of certain diemtions as your prefreed layout.

Now also set hte TABLE to be centered in the page. Thus it will be centered at all resolutions. Ooptionally make it 100% width, instead of 800 (pixel) width. This it will grow in eidth for all resoulutions and things will space out evenly.....

Photoshop is mainly for graphic creations. Invest in Dreamweaver,
Frontpage, or GoLive (the former being the best, IMHO) to get the most out
of creating for the web. Photoshop can still be used to create your images
    and graphics.

No, until about a month ago I was using a Win98se 350 mhtz desktop and a
WinME laptop. I jumped to a 3 ghtz Pentium 4 machine with XP (just a little
difference ;-), but have no intention of buying 2003. 2003 offers a few
features that would be nice (like measurements in pixels), but the downsides
aren't worth it to me. Besides, 2000 does everything I need.

It sounds like you have found other reasons for TRRed's problems anyway.

Loads in both IE 6 & Mozilla 5. Banner image, banner text frame & image
below Nav Bar show up as part of background in IE. Banner image & image
below Nav Bar appear to be a lower resolution in Mozilla, and are GIF
images, not background. Banner 'text frame' shows border, white fill but no
text in Mozilla and is a GIF image. Nav Bar links work on all four pages in
    both IE and Mozilla.

It is strange to watch IE load the page with all elements 'in a pile' in
upper left hand corner, and then eventually distribute itself out over the
    page. DavidF

Even with David's revisions, I am still seeing different
alignments between a Dell desktop ("PC") and a Dell
laptop. I'll be happy to send example screenshots if
anyone wants to see difference. Format on PC is fine.
Format on laptop is somewhat off. For example, tagline is
dropped and encroaches on box border. Additional white
space showing between the objects when viewed on laptop.

Also, I mentioned to David that the overlapping objects
and the use of the master page happened after I created
the initial file on the laptop and noticed the alignment
problems. Thus, they were not an initial cause of the
    problems.

As mentioned on another thread, the overlapping boxes and
use of the master page were attempts to fix the formatting
problems. While they may not have helped, they were not
the causes, as the problems existed before I brought them
into the mix. If interested, I can e-mail you a file that
has screen shots comparing desktop to laptop on the page
    that David created.

Also, as of this point I don't have Publisher (licensed)
on my desktop, so I'll need to defer trying your
    workaround.

Roy, You might have to wait until David Bartosik gets back home in a week or
so to get another answer. I sure don't have one for you. One thing you could
try in the meantime is to change the resolution of your display on your
laptop (compare to the desktop monitor), save new html files, upload those
and see how they compare. Sorry I don't have a better suggestion. Good
