Web page link to Usenet - Mac Networking

I could do this okay a couple of years ago but seem to have forgotten the addressing on linking a web page to a newsgroup. In other words, the news equivalent to "mailto" Thanks. - hm...

    Doh! And thanks.
That's what I tried to use but now from your reply it has just dawned
on me that it is likely not working because I have not uploaded the
site, only previewing it and that's why news: is not being recognized
as valid by Mac OSX (the message) -- which has no problem with
    "mailto:"
I now recall a similar situation of being somewhat flummoxed when first
using it about three years ago.

This is functionally correct. Be aware of two issues though--it
relies on the user having their NNTP settings correct (which newbies
generally do not unless their ISP gave them a spiffy install disk to
populate it), and also web spiders and search engines may frown on it.
That is, some search engines interpret these as broken links, and
lower the score of your page accordingly.

Another tactic is to make the link one to a groups.google.com search
    for that particular newsgroup, e.g.
    http://groups.google.com/groups?group=comp.sys.mac.comm

That technique is both newbie and search engine friendly.

    Best Regards,
